Earlier this month, the team at our local Toms River, NJ Subaru dealers, was thrilled to learn that the Subaru brand had earned several top honors from Kelley Blue Book’s 2017 Cost to Own Awards. The Subaru brand earned two awards: “Best Brand,” while the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek was named “Best Compact SUV/Crossover.” Keep reading here to learn more!

Kelley Blue Book has long been a source of information for those drivers looking to purchase a new vehicle. The Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Awards recognize brands and vehicles with the lowest projected ownership costs over the first five years of ownership. These awards break down typical ownership cost details about different brands and models and award those with the lowest projected five-year total. The experts at Kelley Blue Book take into considerations things like out-of-pocket expenses like fuel, insurance, and vehicle depreciation. Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc., had this to say about the awards:

We are extremely proud to receive these distinguished 2017 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Awards in both overall brand vehicle categories. This recognition mirrors our commitments to providing trusted, top-quality vehicles to consumers, both on the day of purchase and for years to come.

On its way to earning the “Best Brand” award, the Subaru lineup incurred less depreciation than any other automaker while also offering superior fuel efficiency. The models that helped the Subaru brand earn this great honor include the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, 2017 Subaru Outback, and the 2017 Subaru Forester. 2017 marks the second time in three years that it earned the overall honor as it was recognized in 2015 as well.
