The standard 2017 Subaru WRX is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged horizontally opposed four-cylinder “boxer” engine that generates 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It comes paired to either a manual transmission or a CVT with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters and all-wheel drive. The 2017 Subaru WRX STI gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that produces 305 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. It comes paired to a beefed-up six-speed manual transmission.
