There may not be any Subaru vehicle more iconic than the Subaru Forester. For years it has been the best-selling SUV in our stable here at Lester Glenn Subaru, and customers in and around Toms River, NJ probably could have continued enjoying it as-is without any big need for massive adjustments. However, Subaru recently debuted the new 2019 Subaru Forester at this year’s New York International Auto Show, and while those changes may not have been necessary, we can say with absolute certainty that customers are going to love them.
As the Subaru brand puts it, the updated fifth-generation Subaru Forester is, “The roomiest, most capable, and most versatile Subaru Forester ever made.” It’s hard not to love those descriptors, right?
Due to arrive at Subaru dealerships all over the country later this year, the new Subaru Forester features some interesting upgrades, including new advanced safety technologies designed to combat distracted driving. DriverFocus, for example, uses facial recognition software to identify signs of driver fatigue and distraction, and sounds an alarm when it notices a driver losing focus on the road.
Furthermore, a new drivetrain uses direct injection now, giving the Subaru Forester a 12-horsepower bump over the outgoing version, boosting everyday performance.
Finally, the new exterior design not only looks more modern and bolder, but it adds to the function of the car, too, thanks to a wider wheelbase and a more spacious interior cabin.
