Late last month, our team here at our Toms River Subaru dealership was thrilled to learn that the 2017 Subaru Impreza, when equipped with optional EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, has been designated a Top Safety Pick honoree by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and when it’s equipped with the EyeSight and LED Steering Responsive Headlights, it received the Top Safety Pick+ award. In order to earn these coveted honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a vehicle must achieve the agency’s highest rating of “Good” in all five of the IIHS’s crash safety tests: moderate-overlap frontal-offset, small-overlap frontal-offset, side impact, rear crash performance, and roof strength tests. To earn the Top Safety Pick designation, a vehicle must also earn a rating of “Advanced” or” Superior” in the IIHS’s crash avoidance technology tests. A Top Safety Pick+ honoree will have earned the “Advanced” or “Superior” rating in the crash avoidance tests as well as a top rating in the new Headlights test.
Both the four-door sedan and five-door wagon versions of the 2017 Subaru Impreza earned the top rating of “Good “in all five crash tests, while also earning a “Superior” rating in the crash avoidance technology tests for its EyeSight technology. The LED Steering Responsive Headlights received a “Good” rating, while the 2017 Subaru Impreza also earned the top rating of “Good+” for ease of use of the LATCH hardware system for installing child restraints.
Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc., had this to say about the honor: “Safety is our top priority at Subaru and each year we continue to improve and innovate the safety features and technology in our vehicles.”
